The American Legion                            “Veterans STILL SERVING AMERICA”

Euclid Joint Veterans Council  Memorial Day Association

For several generations we have been marching on Memorial Day, we are happy you will be joining us.  This parade is dedicated to war veterans who have died for their country.   No Private themes.  You should not be promoting other events;  thus you should not have signs or hand out flyers  promoting a Vacation Bible School, your Open House, or some other event not pertaining to Memorial Day and Veterans.   But you should have a sign identifying you group and maybe other signs such as "If you value your Freedom, Thank a Veteran",  “Lest We Forget...All gave some... Some Gave All".

One of the great things about living in Euclid, Ohio is the opportunity we have to be involved in city events. Take Memorial Day, for example. Memorial Day is an occasion for honoring all who fought for freedom and for grieving those who did not return to their families. Memorial Day is a sacred day to all war veterans. America's collective consciousness demands that all citizens be reminded of the deaths of their fellow countrymen during wartime. By honoring the nation's war dead, we preserve their memory and thus their service and sacrifice.

The theme of the parade is "If you value your Freedom, Thank a Veteran." So in that spirit, everyone in town is invited to decorate their auto, bicycle, wagon or baby stroller, and come to march in the Memorial Day Parade.

The City of Euclid's annual Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. The parade route will begin at East 228th Street and Lakeshore and proceed west on Lakeshore to East 222nd Street, south on East 222nd Street and ends at Euclid City Hall. Many veterans groups, city officials, marching bands, antique cars, youth sporting teams will be participating.
